Tragedy In A Place Called Nowhere

Ryan Wiseman, a businessman, was on his way to the city of Nowhere. He was the type of person who could not take rebuke, nor be corrected. Despite being told that it was a far journey and there would be no service stations, he headed to Nowhere without fueling up his sports car. He did not buckle up on the drive and sped the entire way to Nowhere. As fate would have it, he ran out of gas on a lonely stretch of the interstate. As he sat there idle, another vehicle, speeding and unable to stop, struck him from the rear, instantly causing him to lose his life. What a tragedy in a place called Nowhere.

At that same time, another driver, Christian Benjamin, was on his way to the city of Destiny. He did all the necessary preparations and made it safely.

The story of Ryan Wiseman and Christian Benjamin reminds us of the life lesson from Scripture: "Pride goes before destruction." Here are seven verses of Scripture that teach us about taking the right way in life and doing the right things to make it to our heavenly destination as believers:

  1. Proverbs 16:18: "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall."
  2. Matthew 7:13-14: "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
  3. Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
  4. Psalm 119:105: "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."
  5. Proverbs 14:12: "There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death."
  6. Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
  7. John 14:6: "Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Let's end with a prayer focus: "Lord, teach me to have purpose, and to do the needed preparations to make it to The Eternal city. Amen."
